Celebrating 26 Years of Steve

This is the celebration of a whole s6 years of Steve. Now its true that I've been present for only about a year and a half, but hey 26 years is awesome no matter how much of it I got to take part in. So the hard part about medical school and birthdays is that they don't take kindly to working around your birthday plans. How rude is it that they put a practical exam on his day. And another mini exam 2 days later. So Steve had to take his test and then try to study on his birthday. We did do our best to have fun. I decorated the apartment while he was sleeping. and of course it had half fallen down when he saw it, but it was still cool. And then I picked him up and we went out for lunch and ice cream and just hung out for a bit at Port Lucaya. I sent him back to studying and then went home to make cupcakes and dinner.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE! HAPPY STEVE DAY!
The cupcakes were so we could take our friends at school a treat kinda like in elementary school. It was kinda fun giving all the half dazed students cupcakes so they could shove more info into their already full heads for a few more hours. I did put candles in a cupcake and sang to him. Then back to studying. But we got to come home earlier to talk to his fam and then we played darts for a while. By the way I got him a magnetic dartboard so that is what we were using for darts. I was really tempted to draw a donkey on a giant piece of carboard and make him play pin the tail on the donkey. But then I remember that I'm not in elementary school anymore and even though kids get a kick out of it. he might give me a pity laugh but then it would be like ok lets move on.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE! HAPPY STEVE DAY!

I was thinking of kids when I hug these balloons in the hall but I still new he'd enjoy them, cause lets face it Steve is definitely still a kid.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE! HAPPY STEVE DAY!

This last pic is just grand. This is my favorite Steve face. Maybe sometime I'll post a bunch of random ones and let ya'll decide your favorites. Hint hint I think I will!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE! HAPPY STEVE DAY!
I think maybe this should be an annual holiday. Maybe every day on August 10th we'll celebrate!

Eww I know.

I know its gross but I wanted to show just how bad that burn from the scooter was. I love seeing battle wounds like black eyes after the fact. of course it looks much worse now than it did before, but its on the mend, sorta. I guess if unbelievable stingin' means its healing I'm on the way. Luckily I'm married to a future doctor and constantly in the vicinity of other future doctors. all sorts of useful info leaks out. Especially since everyone sees it cause shorts and skirts are the main wardrobe here. Anyway if it grosses you out just say pass on the pic and move on cause I pretty much have and who really likes to dwell.

Steve's on the Dean's List!

So Steve made the Dean's List and that is so exciting. It really is an amazing achievement. In order to be on the Dean's list you have to get straight A's for 2 semesters and then keep above a B. There were only 12 people in the 3rd and 4th semesters in the Bahamas who were on the Dean's List. So Congratulations Steve this amazing. It also made us realize how great it is to be here in the Bahamas. It's really nice to be in a small group of Students. It is so much easier to make friends when you only see a small number of people on campus all the time. We have friends and I actually know people who are students that aren't in the branch. We love it! Steve study's in these tiny room on campus with between 5 and 8 other students and they chat and study together. Its just great all around here.

We all got apple bubbly and the faculty and spouses got to toast the students. It's cool honoring them all formal like. (Note to self and anyone else: the floor isn't the greatest place for putting a full glass. 2 cups were tipped over and yes one was mine.)

How fancy the smart people get their names on a cake, never mind the weird hole in the frosting. So so exciting that Steve got to eat his name. He's soooo lucky. I'm glad sometimes he humors the random moments I have to capture.

Scooterin' in the Rain

It rains and you get wet is one of the simple truths of life, but what about the other variations. for instance it rains and you ride your scooter and you get drenched. not just a little damp but to the skin soaking dripping wet. Ok, thats what happened today. I dropped STeve off at school today and we were so lucky cause we barely got sprinkled on, but my luck is lets say pretty stinkin' awful. 1 block away from the school and it was coming down so hard that I was already completely soaked through. by the time I was halfway home My sunglasses we're covered in water making visibility pretty rough and my contacts kept sliding on my eyes making me blink a lot so I couldn't see much at all. All I could think of was getting home. I don't want to sit out the rain huddled shivering under a tree that wouldn't have sheltered me anyway and then the scooter probably wouldn't have restarted so the best bet was back roads and just keep on truckin'. I made it if that isn't already apparent and I probable made puddles in the elevator and the hall and in the couple of spots I hung my clothes to dry. One of these days I'll go with my gut feeling and just wait out the rain. That was my initial thought when I was dropping Steve off, but I tend to just keep on moving without thinking and there is the trouble so I guess I can get what I deserve. Anyway I now am grateful for dry clothes and being on an island cause it warms up here fast.

Can you fix it? No but I have a phone.

So once again the Scooter is broken. Yeah big shocker. So I always just assume that when I hear a popping noise when I accelerate and that there's a rattling noise like the whole engine is being dragged across the road its bad. Of course its always better to put the stand up before you drive off but in the end that wasn't the noise I was hearing. Also I am just not strong enough or something to pull the scooter off its stand. It was super embarrassing when I tried cause the guy fixing it was watching and I burned my leg on the the pipes under it. awkward. So in the end it was good cause its fixed but I never know how much these things are supposed to cost and the guy wouldn't give me a price. He just keeps asking me what I think is good. How should I know? So I threw out a number and I'm still not sure if I over-payed him a lot or if I severly under-payed him. Oh well I'll just hope the scooter is fixed forever and that we don't have to go to him again so I won't have to pay more without a good price. I'm so ready for being back in the states. They give you estimates and its already set. Not a big deal I think.

Bowlarama

I know what you're thinking (thats right I'm psychic and good looking!) We're here for Medical School. You should be studying. Oh wait I'm not. I'm just playing while Steve studies. We have a bowling alley. So so great. I'm not an amazing bowler. Even though I took lessons (no mocking) and my thumb got stuck in the ball on release. Yep I dented the floor. But bowling is fun It doesn't matter if you can't stay consistent. I mean I know I have the skill required to bowl a strike but my mind and arm don't seem to be speaking so I end to be hit and miss. The only experience I can think of when bowling wasn't fun was a forced double date at 16 with a creepy guy who was younger than me and friendly then I can appreciate. When you're that nervous its gets a bit warm and sweaty! So to segue back to the topic. A group of us went bowling and it was a blast. we went one day just the girls and kids, but then we came back dragging the guys. which wasn't hard, since insanity is easy if you don't take a break sometimes. we had to watch out for kids when you bowl cause walking into them or hitting them with a ball could be slightly tramatic, but I just love to be bowling. The only thing that could make this alley better would be black lights and a disco ball. I love civilization. If I didn't say so before there really is something to be said about being in normal place to live. Well as normal as this crazy school lets us!
