The Mashed Hash Flipper

How many flips would a mashed up hash cake endure. This our scientific gift to the world the answer is 5. Of course this isn't an experiment you'll want to try without overalls a toothpick between your teeth and 4 rusting cars in the front yard. We improvised only because we are highly advanced earthlings. So this is our millionth try at making hashbrowns. I never thought it would be so hard. In dominica it always turned into a kind of mush that still tasted pretty good, but here we changed the technique a bit and it turned into what looked like a giant fried oatmeal patty. I couldn't even get myself to try it and wierdly enough it was super sticky inside which kinda made a notch or 2 more disgusting. So instead while I prepared some tuna and tomato soup Steve practiced his pancake flipping skills. He is actually pretty good. I was sure he'd drop it but not once did this juggler of floppy things miss. Anyway it was just a random, fun dinner.

Anther few for the beach

My-size Playland

So this was a fun day at KFC. Honestly I'm not a huge fan of their food, but their playland was big enough for us tall non-children type people. It was out in 8 mile which is the oldest settlement on the island. (I wouldn't put much emphasis on the word oldest it really looks like its falling apart and looks like the part of town nice people want to avoid). I'm pretty sure they don't get so many white folks out there. these little kids kept calling us cheesy and told us its cause we're white. I kept trying to reason with him that I'd call him by his name and I told him mine, but it just seemed to add fuel. I asked what they called people who weren't white like him and he's like "black" I'm a black Bahamian. I hate it when people come up with silly ways of adding barriers between people. It just doesn't breed good feelings for the future. Anywho we had fun and one big bonus was free AC cause its getting so hot here.

Cute little Elena was smearing her face and I'm sure saliva on the window of her plane. I hope she doesn't crash.

Wait for mama Elena. She just was having way too much fun!

I'm pretty sure Cuyler is the is the star kicker of the group but don't let him know cause he needs little to no encouragement, if ya catch my drift.
To add to the 8 mile experience we left to all these teens excitedly waving and saying goodbye. I think white peops are a commodity there. And then I noticed the doors. NO HOODS. I'm not sure what they're trying to say but for real are hoods that big a deal. Interesting thought for a day.

Steve and the Soccer Field

So I can't help but post this picture cause at least once a week he gets all dressed up and goes to school. Dang he looks good. And those are the days I give him a ride on the scooter and I always have kinda rolled out of bed barely presentable and drop him off. I look SO so good next to him like that!
Yeah for staying in shape. In Dominica it was volleyball here he joined a league with a lot of locals and about 2 other students. They have fun. Its a lot of people who are slightly passed their prime and quite a few who are in their prime. Either way there is sure a lot of yelling at each other involved. As far as I can tell this scottish preacher is the backbone of the whole game. I think hearing so many accents made the whole game all the more enjoyable to watch. Steve did pretty well as far as I could tell. He was sure around the ball a lot. And he definitely got a workout out of running after the ball for 2 hours! Its good  to have entertaining diversions.

The International Bazaar

This is the International Bazaar. The 1st time I went there with Steve and it was almost completely deserted except or a gazebo  where these men hang out all day. I was kinda creeped out cause no one was anywhere and there was music playing os it had a deserted carnival in a scary movie feel. I came back with a couple of friends who wanted to take pictures there and it wasn't too bad. There still weren't many people around but we were bus taking pictures so its not as noticable. I guess a lot of the businesses closed when the hurricanes in 2004 and 2005 wiped out the Hotel there. It seems as though that happened in a lot of places all over the island. Anyway its a cool are and it was fun to explore!
The European Area is the prettiest!
Sorry A added a random sunset picture but its pretty enough
This tree reminded me of a bonsai tree, just a bit larger!

A Lighthouse Minus The Light. Guess Thats a House?

I just wanted to share some random pictures from a sunday walk and a beach party after the 1st Mini (test).

Before And After Shots

Before
After
So after a 6 month growth spurt of hair We decided that the hair was maybe one night going to turn on Steve. It was super long and I hate finding so much long hair all over the place. So Steve got his first Bahamian Hair cut and I think its kinda amazing. Not so curly but then again he won't look like a mad scientist everyday, especially after sky diving. Of course he looks greatest when he's clean shaven... hint hint wink wink, but I think everyone else will agree that he looks like a mix of all the hottest actors but with one major improvement on them. He's kinda crazy smart! Did I mention that he's a straight A student in medical school! I'm kinda amazed, not to say that Its surprising, but I didn't know people out there that were semi normal were that smart. anyway. Here he is the new Cary Grant!

Taino Beach

This beach is a major tourist attraction. There is music blasting from the bar and people walking around trying to get people to parasail or jet ski or kayak. They even have a ferry that brings people from Port Lucaya. We had so much fun playing in the sand and Geno and me decided to float out to the rope that divides the swimming area from whatever else. These girls are so fun to hang out with. They are the only members that came from Dominica in 3rd semester. They also have the cutest daughters and really add everything together and you have nothing less than a rave.

The water is striped in different shades of blue everywhere. Its so beautiful. Where its darker is where the seaweed grows on the ocean floor.
